Once again this semester, the MCDS Academic Speed Dating offered the opportunity to present projects in the field of data science to a small audience of experts and to discuss open questions. Representatives from many disciplines, from computer science and economics to business administration and social sciences, participated. The seven presenters gave five-minute talks introducing their research question(s) and commenting on the datasets used, the role of Data Science in their work, and outlining their biggest challenges to the audience.
Of particular interest was the presentation by Dr. Renat Shigapov, Data Science Consultant at the Research Data Center of the University of Mannheim and Data Scientist for BERD@NFDI, who introduced the services in the field of Data Science provided by the University Library. The Research Data Center will continue to expand and promote its services and projects in the future and is looking forward to being contacted by interested parties.
Following each presentation, there was time for questions and comments. Many similiarities between the projects could be identified, which were further lively discussed over coffee, cake and pretzels at the end of the event.
