The scholarship system of the University of Mannheim

Since 2007, the university has had its own scholarship system. More than 2,600 particularly talented and committed students have already benefited from funding. Each of the scholarship programs has a specific focus and provides targeted support. Academic achievements, success in sports, or mastering challenging situations in life can qualify students for a scholarship.

As a foundation, company or private individual, you can also contribute to the personal and professional development of students by granting financial support. Both the Deutschland Scholarship and individual programs are suitable for this purpose.

Deutschland Scholarship

The Deutschland Scholarship is a funding program for particularly high-performing and committed students that is run by the federal government. Every euro from private sponsors or funding organizations is matched by one euro from the federal government. In addition to financial funding, there is in many cases also non-material support in the form of internships or similar.

The Deutschland Scholarship rewards outstanding achievements at university or school – especially when they are linked to the respective student’s coping with difficult life situations. The aim is to support students who assume social responsibility at an early stage. Among other things, scholarship holders are involved in student initiatives and departmental student committees.

I consider the Deutschland Scholarship to be a great appreciation of my achievements and also as encouragement for my studies. I appreciate the numerous opportunities to exchange ideas with other scholarship holders as well as with private sponsors from the world of business and take advantage of the opportunity to build a network for the future.

Thanks to the Deutschland Scholarship I have been able to develop both personally and professionally. The direct contact with well-known companies and the participation in local events, in particular, gave me new and important insights into my future professional life. I am grateful that the scholarship has helped me to come closer to my goal of becoming active on an international level in the future.

The Deutschland Scholarship involves much more than just financial support. Above all, I benefit from the non-material support of my funding organization. So far, I have had the opportunity to participate in workshops and lectures, which provided me with new insights and enabled me to make new contacts.

The Deutschland Scholarship involves much more than just money. As a scholarship holder I have the opportunity to show that I am an excellent student. For international students, like me, it is especially important to prove themselves in Germany. By attending events, we can make first personal contacts in the business world. I would like to thank the sponsors and funding organizations and the selection committee for providing me with this opportunity.

Individual programs

The University of Mannheim gives sponsors the opportunity to establish their own scholarship programs. In doing so, the university collaborates closely with its partners both in the development and implementation of the program.

The existing programs are advertised individually. They are linked to specific selection processes in which the respective sponsors and/or funding organizations are directly involved. The University of Mannheim is happy to offer major funding organizations the opportunity to develop additional scholarship programs. Due to the effort involved in developing and implementing a new program, the annual funding volume should be at least in the mid five-digit range.

Current individual funding programs include the Spitzensport-Stipendium Metropolregion Rhein-Neckar and the Mannheim Scholarship.
