Academic Speed Dating 2026

On Thursday, April 16, at 2 p.m., the next Academic Speed Dating at the University of Mannheim will bring together researchers for an afternoon of rapid exchange and interdisciplinary networking. Under the theme “Experiments and Causal Research with AI”, the event explores how artificial intelligence is reshaping experimental methods and causal analysis across disciplines. Join us for short research pitches, lively discussions, and new collaboration opportunities within the Mannheim data science community.

Prof. Dr. Kosuke Imai holds MCDS Distinguished Lecture

Academic Speed Dating in the fall semester 2024: Networking research across disciplines

The Academic Speed Dating in the fall semester of 2024 brought together around 25 participants for an inspiring afternoon of networking, learning, and collaboration at Mannheim Palace on November 7. The highlight was the keynote by Prof. Margret Keuper.

DataFest Germany 2024 at the University of Mannheim

DataFest Germany took place at the University of Mannheim from April 5 to 7, 2024. For the first time, the School of Social Sciences organized the 48-hour competition for students together with the MCDS.

Prof. Meeyoung Cha delivers first MCDS Distinguished Lecture

As the first guest speaker of the MCDS Distinguished Lecture, Prof. Meeyoung Cha gave a lecture entitled “Making Discoveries for Humanity & Society with Data Science” at the University of Mannheim on April 9.

Workshop on Data Science Developments in Berlin

On September 29, 2023, MCDS, together with the Data Science Center of the University of Bremen and the Digital Science Center of the University of Kiel, organized a workshop on “Current Developments and Perspectives (at Universities) in Data Science” as part of the Informatik 2023 conference.

What Survey Methodology and Data Science can learn from each other

Over 30 participants came together at the Academic Speed Dating event in the spring semester 2024 to discuss this and other questions and find out about current research in this field at the University of Mannheim.
