Relaxation and massage chair

In cooperation with the University's occupational health management, the Institute of Sports offers employees of the University of Mannheim the opportunity to treat themselves to a very special relaxation break with the massage and relaxation chair, where everyday stress and university can be forgotten for a moment and new energy can be recharged. A SportsCard is required to book the massage chair, which you can apply for and book here free of charge.

There is something for everyone with the diverse selection of programs. Within the booked time slot of half an hour, programs with a length of 9 to 21 minutes can be selected on site with different thematic focuses (massage, short meditation, positive affirmations, autogenic training, all-round wellbeing programs). You can find an overview of all available programs on site, in the list below or here as a PDF. If you are using the brainLight system for the first time, please choose the 20-minute introductory program first. An IFS employee will instruct you on site.

Please plan your appointment so that the last 10 minutes of your time slot can be used to air the room and you leave the room on time.

  • How do I book the relaxation and massage chair?

    A SportsCard is required to book the massage chair; this is free of charge for employees of the University of Mannheim and can be applied for here. When booking, please take your colleagues into consideration and book an appropriate number of appointments so that others also have the opportunity to take advantage of corresponding appointments. If necessary, please coordinate your appointment with your supervisor and take time off work for the duration of the massage. Participation is not counted as working time. Dress comfortably on the day of the massage. Please observe the instructions for use when using the massage chair.

    First booking (mandatory)

    •     Book your first appointment here.
    •     Please register at the institute's office before the start of your appointment.
    •     An employee of the institute will accompany you to the wellness room and instruct you in the use and handling of the massage chair.
    •     The application of the introductory program, which is available in German, English, French and Spanish (20 minutes) will start.

    Follow-up booking

    •     For follow-up bookings, you can enter the wellness room on your own; prior registration at the institute's office is not necessary.
    •     Please be punctual so that your booked time slot is sufficient for you to arrive in peace, select programs and leave relaxed.

    What do I do if I cannot keep my appointment?

    If you cannot keep your appointment or are unable to attend, you can release your booking online for others. Please use the link in your registration confirmation. Please note: Appointments and tickets are non-transferable.

  • Overview of available programs

    Relaxation with the brainLight Shiatsu massage chair.

    Quality break and relaxation highlight: the audiovisual relaxation system with the brainLight Shiatsu massage chair creates a fully automatic, intensive, surprisingly pleasant massage combined with deep relaxation through light and sound. Within a few minutes you will feel calm and deeply relaxed. The massage chair offers more than 40 programs, with massage types such as: Shiatsu, rolling-stretching, tapping, vibration, shoulder, neck, back, leg or foot massage. Mindfulness programs are also integrated. All programs are freely selectable and run fully automatically with different massage lengths. There is something for everyone with the wide range of programs. Speech, music, light, sound and massage are automatically and optimally coordinated for all programs. The programs have a length of 9 to 21 minutes. Within your booking time of 30 minutes, you can choose short or long programs, even two short programs in succession would be possible.
