How is the Teacher Education program structured?

During the Teacher Education program, you will go through different phases of theory and practice.

In the bachelor's program, you will acquire basic theoretical knowledge in Education Sciences and your chosen subjects. In addition, you will make first practical teaching attempts during the first school placement (or in the Lehr:werkstatt) and learn more about Teaching Methodologies. In the master's program, you will have a placement semester, and you will learn more about Education Sciences and Teaching Methodologies.

First School Placement

In the bachelor's program in Teacher Education, an internship is part of the second subject-specific semester of the bachelor’s program, meaning the students spend three weeks at a secondary school or a vocational school.

Lehr:werkstatt

During this alternative long-term internship, students work in tandem with a teacher over the course of an entire school year to organize and experience everyday school life and to try themselves out in the classroom.

Mentoring Program

The aim of the mentoring program is to connect students of Teacher Education and students of Economic and Business Education from different semesters and subjects.

The placement semester in the master's program in Teacher Education is the third subject-specific semester of the master’s program. The State Seminars for Didactics and Teacher Education (secondary and vocational schools) support students in completing the placement semester.
