Engagement connects – join us!

The foundation regularly invites its supporters to exclusive lectures, guided tours, and events – sometimes in small groups, sometimes on a larger scale. These gatherings are our way of saying thank you, offering insights into our work, and fostering exchange among dedicated individuals.
Take the opportunity to network and get involved – we look forward to welcoming you!

Trash People: 30 Years Around the World

Since 28 September 2026, the Trash People by internationally renowned action artist HA Schult have been on display at Mannheim Palace (East Wing). Until 15 October 2026, more than 70 figures made from compressed everyday waste are being presented in the central area of the palace to mark the 30th anniversary of the Trash People series.

Over the past decades, the project has been presented at numerous internationally significant locations – including in front of the Pyramids of Giza, on the Great Wall of China, and in the Alps near Zermatt. With its presentation in Mannheim, this globally renowned art project is being shown on site in a university context for the first time. The Trash People invite visitors to engage with questions surrounding sustainability, resource consumption, and social responsibility.

A particular highlight was the exclusive opening on 30 September. At a champagne reception, numerous friends of the University of Mannheim and supporters of the Stiftung Universität Mannheim had the opportunity to meet HA Schult in person, exchange ideas and learn more about his work.
