Opportunity Mannheim Scholarship

In 2016, through a generous donation to the Foundation of the University of Mannheim, Normann Stassen established opportunity scholarships for socially disadvantaged and committed first-year students as well as enrolled students at the University of Mannheim. In 2017, the dissolution of the Rheinhyp Support Fund for Eurohypo Employees (RUFE) and the transfer of its assets made it possible to establish a social fund for this purpose. Further donations and endowments are welcome.

Students receive funding for a maximum of one year. After the funding period ends, they may reapply for the scholarship. The amount of financial support is determined individually by the selection committee.

You may apply for the Mannheim Opportunity Scholarship if you are studying at the University of Mannheim or have applied for a bachelor’s or master’s degree program there. We accept applications from all faculties and all semesters, provided that applicants demonstrate good academic performance and regular progress in their studies. In awarding the scholarship, we take into account your financial, family, and personal circumstances. These may include acute crisis situations, lack of family support, disabilities, illnesses, or caring responsibilities for family members.

We have received a scholarship and would like to express our sincere gratitude for it.

“Before receiving the scholarship, my mother and I faced considerable difficulties in affording university fees following the passing of my father. His loss placed an emotional and financial burden on our family, making it uncertain whether I would be able to continue my studies. The scholarship has not only provided financial relief but has also given me the opportunity to focus on my education without the constant worry of financial strain.”
