GESS Board of Directors
The GESS Board of Directors is the governing body of the graduate school. It consists of the University Vice President for Research and Early-Stage Researchers and three Academic Directors each representing one center for doctoral studies.
The Academic Directors are elected by the graduate school members of the respective school or department. The GESS Board is headed by the Dean of Graduate Studies who reports directly to the Office of the President of the University of Mannheim and represents the school to the outside.
The GESS Board is strongly committed to the principle of shared collegial governance. It is charged with the supervision of the graduate school’s academic programs, the administration of the school’s budget, and responsible for its long-term mission and vision.
