Jan Portisch Receives SWSA Distinguished Dissertation Award

Jan Portisch, a former PhD student at the Data and Web Science Group and now a Lead Software Architect at SAP Signavio, has received the SWSA Distinguished Dissertation Award.

Jan Portisch, a former PhD student at the Data and Web Science Group supervised by Heiko Paulheim and now a Lead Software Architect at SAP Signavio, has received the SWSA Distinguished Dissertation Award. The award is given once a year by the Semantic Web Science Association (SWSA) for an outstanding dissertation in the field of knowledge graphs and the semantic web.

Jan’s thesis touches a wide variety of topics, from different strategies for exploiting public knowledge graphs in schema matching up to several extensions of the RDF2vec embedding mechanism, and also significant open source contributions, including the most scalable implementation of RDF2vec available to day. Many of those achievements have been published in the top journals and conferences in the field. and his outstanding performance at the ESWC 2022 minute madness session will remain memorable for all those who attended.
