Chiayi Yen was born on February 15, 1989 in Taiwan. Prior her studies here, she worked as a financial engineer in hedge fund industry and a data science consultant for financial instititions. She earned her Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Economics at National Taiwan University in 2012 and 2014 respectively. Besides a Ph.D. student, she is also an inventor of three Fintech Taiwaness patent applications, a translator of two novels on computer science for children, the co-founder of R-Ladies Taipei – a local nonprofit organization which helps female learn data science and R language – and one of the Microsoft Most Valuable Professionals in 2017–2019.
