Alexander Schmid

Alexander Schmid was born in Erlangen, Germany. He completed his Bachelor's degree in Business and Economics at the University of Mainz in 2021 and holds a Master's degree in Taxation from the University of Göttingen. His Master's studies focused on business taxation and public economics, and included a term abroad at Hong Kong Baptist University. His master’s thesis analyzed the effect of European integration on public finance.

During his studies, Alexander gained professional experience as a working student in the Tax Policy team at Ernst & Young and as a teaching assistant at the Chair of Public Economics at the University of Göttingen. He also worked for one year as a research assistant at the Dresden Branch of the ifo Institute for Economic Research. His academic interests include the analysis of illicit financial flows, international tax avoidance, and the influence of tax havens on fiscal policy.

He joined the Taxation track of the CDSB at the Graduate School of Economic and Social Sciences in September 2025.
