Mareike Weiß
In 2022, Mareike Weiß graduated from the Georg-August University in Göttingen with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Economics and Philosophy. She completed a Double-Degree Programme in Economics in 2024, obtaining a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Economics from the University of Essex and a Master of Science (M.Sc.) with a major in Public Economics from the University of Konstanz. In her Master’s Thesis she analysed the relationship between unionization and wage inequality in Germany with a focus on gender differences in wage outcomes. Her academic interests lie in development cooperation, the global minimum tax, political economy, and data science.
She was previously employed as Tutor for Maths at the Chair of Econometrics and as Research Assistant at the Chair of Development Economics in Göttingen, and worked as Research Assistant at the Chair of Economic Policy in Konstanz and at the Department of Government in Essex. Additionally, Mareike has gained internship experience in Public Funds Assurance of European Structural and Investment Funds with Deloitte. Most recently, Mareike completed a Carlo-Schmid-Fellowship with the United Nations Resident Coordinator’s Office in Fiji.
In September 2025, Mareike joined the Taxation track of the Center for Doctoral Studies in Business at the Graduate School of Economic and Social Sciences.
