Emre holds bachelor’s degrees in economics and mathematics from Koç University (Istanbul). During this time, he also studied one semester abroad at Singapore Management University. Afterwards, he completed an M.Sc. in quantitative economics at Ludwig Maximilian University Munich with a TEV/DAAD scholarship and worked as a research assistant at the Chair of Empirical Economic Research. His master’s thesis evaluates recent research on the long-term effects of adverse childhood shocks. In spring 2021, he was a remote visiting student in UC Berkeley’s graduate economics program.

His current research interests are public economics, applied microeconomics, and behavioral economics, with a focus on retirement and late-life savings behavior.
