Giovanni Manica is from Rome, Italy. He holds a Master of Science in Economic and Social Sciences from Bocconi University in Milan, where he also completed his Bachelor's degree. His Master's thesis in Labor Economics examined how collective wage bargaining institutions mediate the impact of import competition on the French labor market. During his studies, he spent a semester abroad at the London School of Economics and contributed to research projects at Bocconi. In the final year of his Bachelor's, he completed a traineeship at the European Commission Representation in Italy. He is currently affiliated with the “Labor in the Low-carbon Transition” research group at Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei as a Junior Researcher, focusing on research at the intersection of Labor and Environmental Economics. Giovanni joined the Center for Doctoral Studies in Economics at the Graduate School of Economic and Social Sciences (GESS) in Mannheim in September 2025.
