Isabel Porstein is a doctoral candidate at the CDSS. She earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Mannheim, focusing on the age-related positivity effect in source memory among older adults. Before starting her master’s studies at Mannheim, she expanded her academic background by attending Harvard Summer School, where she took courses in neurobiology and gender studies.
During her undergraduate years, Isabel gained research experience as a student assistant at the Central Institute of Mental Health in Mannheim, working with the Psychobiology of Self-Regulation research group. She also built clinical expertise through internships at Heidelberg University Hospital, University Hospital Carl Gustav Carus Dresden, and the Familientherapeutisches Zentrum Neckargemünd.
In 2025, Isabel completed her master’s degree in psychotherapy and clinical psychology, with a thesis exploring experimentally induced dissociation in healthy adults and relevant vulnerability factors. Her research interests lie at the intersection of clinical and cognitive psychology, particularly the implications of cognitive processes for psychological symptoms.
