Stephanie Buchholz

Stephanie Buchholz is a doctoral candidate in Social Sciences at the CDSS. She obtained a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Sociology and a master’s degree in Sociology from Georg-August University Goettingen. During her master studies she spent a semester at the Ghent University, Belgium.  Her research focused on income inequalities in postcolonial societies as well as the development of the gender wealth gap and its determinants. 
Her doctoral research examines the comparative resilience of welfare states in crisis and their absorptive and adaptive capacities to mitigate social risks. She employs computational social science methods, with an emphasis on collecting and automatically analyzing large-scale text data, combined with quantitative micro-level data.
