Tristan Muno is a doctoral candidate at the CDSS at the University of Mannheim and a research associate at the Chair of European Politics. His research lies at the intersection of quantitative methods, behavioral political science, and European politics. He studies the political dynamics underlying the rise of populist radical right parties, with a focus on affective polarization, intergroup relations, and political behavior more broadly. His current work examines how partisan identity shapes affective polarization in comparative perspective. His dissertation investigates the long-term legacies of historical Muslim rule in Europe for contemporary intergroup relations and political behavior. Methodologically, he is committed to Bayesian inference, causal analysis, and open, reproducible science. He also engages with the philosophical and logical foundations of scientific inquiry, drawing inspiration from analytical philosophy and the study of complex, dynamic systems. He holds an M.A. in Political Science and a B.Ed. in History and Political Science from the University of Mannheim.
