Call for Applications
The Department of Psychology at the University of Mannheim offers
3 Positions for Doctoral Researchers (75% TV-L E13, 3 years)
starting in August 2024 or at the next possible date. The positions are located in the areas of Experimental Psychology and Psychological Methods at the University of Mannheim, and they are part of the dissertation program in the Research Training Group “Statistical Modeling in Psychology”.
Applicants should hold a research-oriented Master’s degree in psychology or from a related discipline and show a strong interest in approaching substantive research questions by means of statistical modeling. Research interests in experimental cognitive psychology (e.g., memory, judgment and decision making, inductive reasoning) or psychometric modeling (e.g., item response theory, latent response processes) are especially welcome. Dissertation projects can either focus on applications of existing statistical models to new research questions or on the development of statistical models and tools for use in psychology. In addition to pursuing a dissertation project, candidates are expected to contribute to the teaching program in psychology on the Bachelor and Master level.
The SMiP curriculum starts in Fall 2024 and supports the doctoral researchers and their projects with a series of core courses, skill trainings, and specialized workshops instructed by SMiP researchers and invited international experts. In addition, participation in the SMiP training program includes academic supervision and personal advice from a team of senior researchers, financial support of international conference visits and research stays abroad, as well as access to high-speed computers and laboratory facilities. As the language of the SMiP program is English, proficiency in English language is essential.
