Dr. Petar Ristoski receives SWSA Distinguished Dissertation Award

Dr. Petar Ristoski, who received his PhD at the Data and Web Science Group in 2018, has received the SWSA Distinguished Dissertation Award for his thesis “Exploiting Semantic Web Knowledge Graphs in Data Mining”. The thesis explores the use of Semantic Web Knowledge Graphs, such as DBpedia or Wikidata, as background knowledge for data mining tasks. Among others, one key contribution is the highly acclaimed RDF2vec approach for projecting nodes in a knowledge graph into a lower dimensional vector space.
