Nils Schweikard was born in Mainz, Germany. He obtained his bachelor’s degree at the University of Applied Sciences in Mainz as part of a four-years integrated degree program with the pharmaceutical company Boehringer Ingelheim, in the course of which he also completed an apprenticeship as an industrial clerk, spent a semester abroad at ISCTE University Institute of Lisbon, and gained extensive work experience in various departments of the company. After additional two years of working full-time as a competitive intelligence source and process manager in the therapeutic area cardio-metabolism, he joined the Mannheim Master in Management (MMM) program to acquire the M.Sc. degree at the University of Mannheim, specializing in Management and Marketing. In his master thesis he investigated creativity processes in teams. Specifically, he gained insights into how creativity processes work differently depending on whether teams are working in a virtual or non-virtual setting. Nils joined the Management Track of the Center of Doctoral Studies in Business in September 2021.
