Bennet was born in Cuxhaven, an idyllic town on Germany's North Sea coast. He obtained his bachelor's degree in economics with a minor in mathematics at the University of Mannheim. During his bachelor studies, he spent a semester abroad at Xiamen University in China. He also completed his master's degree at the University of Mannheim. In the meantime, he worked as a student assistant at the ZEW in the department for financial markets, supporting research about financial literacy, saving behavior and occupational pensions. His master's thesis examines the relationship between households’ market expectations and their investment portfolios. Bennet joined the ZEW’s research department for Pensions and Sustainable Financial Markets in 2021.
