Xi was born in 1991 in Shaanxi, China. He finished his first degree in International Economics at University of International Business and Economics (UIBE), China. Then he went to University of Mannheim and graduated with a thesis which analyses the impact of parental migration on left-behind children. He obtained his first research experience through his work as a research assistant for Prof. Hidenori Takahashi. Xi joined the CDSE through the Economics Research track. Currently, his research focuses on topics in applied microeconomics, labor economics and development economics. In his free time, he enjoys playing tennis, doing all kinds of outdoor sports and skiing.
