Maximilian Mähr obtained his bachelor's degree in economics at the University of Münster in 2017. Afterward, he attended the University of Bonn for his master’s degree in economics. During his master studies, he worked as a research assistant at the Institute of Labor Economics (IZA). Before joining the doctoral program at GESS he worked for one year as a pre-doctoral fellow for Professors Brenøe and Zölitz at the University of Zurich.

His main research interests lie in the realm of political economy, economic history, and education economics.
