Bjarne was born in 1999 in Flensburg, Germany. He obtained his bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Mannheim. During his studies, he worked as a teaching assistant for mathematics and microeconomics. After completing his undergraduate studies, Bjarne entered the M.Sc. Economics program at the University of Mannheim and joined the CDSE via the Master of Economic Research (MAER) track.
His main research interest is macroeconomics. In particular, he is interested in how (heterogeneous) firm behavior and firm dynamics shape macroeconomic outcomes. In his bachelor thesis, he examined the role of industry composition in explaining cross-country differences in the behavior of the labor share of national income. In his master thesis / dissertation proposal, he developed a research project quantifying the effect that firms’ strategic price setting motives have on the cost-price pass-through and aggregate inflation.
In his free time, Bjarne enjoys running, hiking, rowing and going to the theatre.
Bjarne receives a scholarship from the Foundation “Geld und Währung”.
