Henrik Martin Sauer was born in Jena, Germany. In 2020, he obtained his undergraduate degree in economics from the University of Mannheim. During his undergraduate studies, he participated in a semester abroad at the University of Warwick. In his bachelor's thesis he presented an experiment on spillover effects in corrupt activities. In 2021, he received his postgraduate degree in economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science. During his postgraduate studies, Henrik wrote an essay on the career concerns in committees with heterogeneous preferences. His research interests are Microeconomic Theory, Industrial Organisation and Political Economy.
