Pooja was born in 1997 and raised in the city of Bangalore, India. She pursued her undegraduate studies in Economics from Christ University, Bangalore. During the course of her bachelor's degree, she interned at research institutes including J-PAL South Asia and the Center for Development Studies where she worked primarily on topics of education. She obtained her master's degree in Economics from the University of Bonn while working in parallel as a teaching assistant for mathematics and a research assistant at the Institute of Labor Economics (IZA), Bonn. In her master's thesis, she attempted to develop a model to determine the extent of media informativeness under competition. She is currently interested in the areas of political economy, gender and economics of education.
