Tanay was born in 1995 in Cuttack, India. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Economics from NMIMS, Mumbai, and his Master’s degree in Economics from Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata. Furthermore, he has worked as a Data Scientist in the banking industry. As part of his Bachelor’s thesis, Tanay developed a model to analyze the efficiency of market investment in R&D when firms have imperfect information on others’ investments. He has also been working on understanding the role of external and internal conflicts in democratization.

Tanay’s interests lie in the fields of Macroeconomics, Growth Theory, and Political Economics.
