Siyu was born in 2001 in Jiaxing, Zhejiang Province, China. She completed her undergraduate studies in economics at the University of Nottingham Ningbo China from 2019 to 2023, graduating with first-class honours. In 2024, she joined the CDSE through the Master of Economic Research (MAER) track at the University of Mannheim.

Siyu examines the long-run educational impacts of the 1976 Tangshan earthquake on rural middle school-aged children mainly based on 1 percent microdata from China's national census in 2000 in her bachelor’s thesis. Currently, she is interested in labour economics, behavioural and experimental economics.

In her free time, Siyu enjoys travelling, hiking, swimming and cooking.
