Jiangting (Carlia) was born in Dalian, China. Before joining the CDSE, she earned both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Economics from the University of Mannheim, focusing on Development Economics and Labor Economics. Her Master's thesis explored the effect of parents' provincial-cohort level income inequality on children's education investment. During her master's studies, Jiangting worked as a research assistant at ZEW in the Inequality and Public Policy department. She will continue her work there as a researcher starting in September 2024.

In her free time, Jiangting enjoys cooking, swimming, wood carving, painting, and caring for her blue skink, Alpha.
