Stefan was born in Lörrach, Germany. He obtained his bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Mannheim, followed by a master's degree at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. In his master's thesis, he evaluated the effect of Ukrainian refugees on the employment of other immigrants in Germany.
His research interests lie in the Economics of Migration, Economic History, and Experimental Economics.
In his free time, he enjoys staying active through sports and is an avid football fan.
