Max Otto is a doctoral candidate at the Center for Doctoral Studies in Social and Behavioural Sciences (CDSS). He holds a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in sociology from the University Leipzig. A particular focus of his work is on low-assumption theory building via forma mathematical models and their empirical validation through various appropriate data analysis procedures. Thematically, he is primarily interested in culturally induced mechanisms of cooperation with an emphasis on the structure of labour markets (i.e., labour exchange institutions). In the past, he has considered consequences of this approach from as various perspectives as the integration motivations of migrants, social and educational mobility, historical transformations of labour markets and cultural change.
