New supporter for the Elite Student Athletes Scholarship Rhine-Neckar Metropolitan Region

The University of Mannheim Foundation has gained BNP Paribas Wealth Management – Private Banking as a new sponsor for the Elite Student Athletes Scholarship Rhine-Neckar Metropolitan Region (Sports Scholarship MRN). The money from the social fund will benefit top student athletes at the University of Mannheim.

The University of Mannheim Foundation will initially receive a five-year grant from BNP Paribas Wealth Management – Private Banking. All student athletes can apply for this financial support if they have to pay for extraordinary charges, such as expenses for competitions, equipment or training camps, themselves. “For us and our customers, the values of performance, security and freedom are of particular importance. That is why we chose this sponsorship, because it reflects both our values and the characteristics of a top athlete,” says Marcel Becker, Head of Private Banking Germany at BNP Paribas. “With our contribution, we want to give top student athletes a little more security so that they have more freedom to train and thus achieve their top performances.”

Sarah Seidl, overall coordinator of the Sports Scholarship MRN and top sports representative at the University of Mannheim, is pleased about the funding, which will be distributed through the University of Mannheim Foundation: “Due to the practice of top sports, our scholarship recipients have a monthly financial burden that is approximately 300 euros higher compared to students who do not practice competitive sports. Often the material, the travel to and from competitions as well as training camps can no longer be covered by the clubs. That's why we are very grateful that, with the support of BNP Paribas Private Banking, we can help our scholarship holders financially with their dual careers.”
