Good child care is the basic requirement for reconciling family and career or studies. In order for you to be able to focus on your work or studies, the University of Mannheim offers various child care options.
Kinderhaus of the Studierendenwerk Mannheim
The Kinderhaus of the Studierendenwerk Mannheim is close to the campus. Here, children aged 1 to 6 years are well looked after. The university has reserved up to 30 places for children of employees. The remaining places are allocated to students with children. Please send your requests and registrations directly to the child care center. The places are allocated there.

“Justizzwerge” day care center
Also close to campus is the day care center “Justizzwerge” that is located in Palais Bretzenheim in A2. Places are available for children aged six months to six years.

Emergency child care
If you cannot find someone to care for your child at short notice, there is no need to feel stressed. You can book emergency child care at the “Justizzwerge” day care center, depending on the available capacities. Please send your request for an emergency child care place directly to the “Justizzwerge” day care center.

Child care during school holidays organized by Delta Kids in Mannheim
Summer holidays: a six-week break for your children, a balancing act between child care and work for you. At the Delta Kids Sport Camp your children are well looked after and can try out new sports with their peers. And the best of all: The Delta Kids keep an eye on the dates of the summer holidays in Baden-Württemberg, Rhineland-Palatinate, and Hesse. Register your child now with the registration form!

Childcare for Saturday Exams (pilot project)
To make it easier for students and examination supervisors to take part in Saturday exams, the Department of Equal Opportunity and Social Diversity and kinderlandnet gGmbH have launched a new childcare service. On the four Saturdays, on which examinations will take place, (8 June, 15 June, 24 August and 31 August), Kinderlandnet will provide professional care for children between one and six years of age. The offer is free of charge for parents.
Childcare will be available between 7.30 a.m. and 6 p.m. at Kindernest-City, Rheinhäuserstraße 22, 68161 Mannheim. The childcare follows the Reggio concept, which offers children plenty of opportunities for free play outside and creative development inside. Snacks are provided on site. If your child has special dietary needs (e.g., lactose-free food), the food should be provided by the parents.
Registration
If you are in need of childcare, please contact Natalie Rose at natalie.roseuni-mannheim.de at least ten days before the respective examination date. Please copy the following declaration of consent into your e-mail:
“I have read the general information and the information on data protection for childcare on exam Saturdays and consent to the respective data processing. I am aware that my consent is voluntary and that I can refuse it without any disadvantages or revoke it at any time without giving reasons. I am aware that in the event I revoke my consent, the lawfulness of the processing carried out on the basis of the consent until then is not affected. I can address my revocation to the contact person named in the information. I have been provided with the information on the processing of personal data. The text of this declaration of consent was made available to me at www.uni-mannheim.de/en/gender-equality-and-equal-opportunity/family/examinations/childcare-for-saturday-exams/."
Please note that the spots for your children are limited. We therefore recommend that you register as early as possible. In urgent cases after the registration deadline, you can contact the team by telephone on 0176 19945358.
