The equal opportunity strategy of the University of Mannheim does not leave anything to chance: Find out more about the basic equal opportunity strategies and plans for the coming years.
In cooperation with the President's Office, the schools, and the equal opportunity commissioners of the schools, the Department of Equal Opportunity and Social Diversity drew up the equal opportunity strategy for the years 2019–2023. In addition to an analysis of the status quo, the plan outlines measures and targets for gender distribution at academic qualification levels up to the year 2023.
The Professorinnenprogramm II launched by the Federal Government aims to increase the proportion of women at professorial level in the long term. The University of Mannheim successfully applied in the second round of the program with its specifically developed equal opportunity strategy. With the funds acquired from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the Ministry of Science, Research and Arts of Baden-Württemberg (MWK) as well as the university's own financial contribution, it has been possible to add new financing options and career programs to the range of services offered by the Department of Equal Opportunity and Social Diversity. Bridge funding for female researchers, grants for travel expenses as well as mentoring and training.
In the third round of the Professorinnenprogramm (program for women professors), the University of Mannheim's equal opportunity strategy was again positively assessed by an external evaluation committee. The university can thus apply for funding for up to three new appointments of women professors over a period of up to five years.
