Equal Opportunity Commissioner
Andrea Horn is the Equal Opportunity Commissioner for non-academic staff members of the University of Mannheim and supports the university management in implementing the equal opportunity act of the Land of Baden-Württemberg (Chancengleichheitsgesetz (ChancenG)) that is designed to promote the actual implementation of equality of women and men working in public service. Together with her deputy Veronique Embach, she advises all staff members of the central administration, the University Library, and the University IT on equal opportunity issues.
In addition, Andrea Horn acts as an occupational care guide of the Bündnis für Familie Heidelberg and spokeswoman of the working group of the equal opportunity commissioners of the universities in Baden-Württemberg.

Areas of focus:
- Involvement in all personnel, social, and organizational measures
- Development of concepts to improve the reconciliation of work and family life
- Advice on equal opportunity issues, reconciliation of work and family life, returning to work after a family leave, organization of working time, leadership activities on a part-time basis, and career planning
- Early involvement in recruitment processes, promotion processes, and application processes for telework
- Seminars on stress, time and self- management, goal setting or career planning
