Behzad Yaghoobi was born in Tehran, Iran, in March 1999. He obtained his Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering from Sharif University of Technology. His Bachelor’s final project focused on “Customer Churn Prediction Using the Random Forest Algorithm” and was later developed into a conference paper presented at ICISE 2024. While pursuing his Bachelor’s degree, he worked as a teaching assistant for two undergraduate core courses: Engineering Economics and Project Control. Furthermore, he gained practical experience in Project Control through an internship during his bachelor’s journey.
To broaden his knowledge of optimization, Behzad pursued a Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, specializing in Systems Optimization at the same institution, which he completed in 2025. In his Master's thesis, titled “Scheduling the Group Stage of the FIFA World Cup (New Format),” he proposed an integer programming framework with a bi-objective component for fair scheduling and venue allocation, as well as a kickoff-time optimization component accounting for time zones and TV audience preferences.
In September 2026, Behzad joined the Operations Management track of the Center of Doctoral Studies in Business (CDSB) at the Graduate School of Economic and Social Sciences (GESS).
