Tobias was born in 1997 in Münster, Germany. He obtained his Bachelor's and Master's degree in Economics at the Humboldt Universität zu Berlin. During his undergraduate and graduate studies, he spent a semester abroad at the University of Warwick and the University of Copenhagen. At HU Berlin he worked as a teaching and research assistant at the chair of macroeconomic theory. Throughout his studies, he received a scholarship from the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung.
In his master’s thesis, he evaluated the effect of a spatial discontinuity in West German TV reception on east-west migration in Germany after the Peaceful Revolution in 1989.
His current research interests include causal analysis, migration and labor economics as well as political economy.
