Maximilian Sprenkmann is a doctoral candidate in Social Data Science at the Graduate School of Economic and Social Sciences (GESS) and a research associate at the Chair of Artificial Intelligence. His research focuses on the interplay of discourses, algorithms, content moderation and freedom of speech in social media networks using agent-based simulations (ABM).

Prior to joining the University of Mannheim, he worked at Siemens in Buenos Aires, the think tank TASC in Dublin, and the electoral research institute Forschungsgruppe Wahlen e. V. in Mannheim.

He holds a master's degree in social data science from University College Dublin, where his thesis examined the relationship between income inequality and social mobility. He also earned a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Mannheim, where he investigated the effects of political campaigning on voter turnout and vote choice.
