Xaver Steigleider is a doctoral candidate in psychology at the CDSS. He earned both his bachelor's degree in psychology and his master's degree in clinical psychology and psychotherapy at the University of Mannheim. As part of his academic journey, he completed a semester abroad at the University of Tartu, Estonia, focusing on the intersection of psychology and Buddhist philosophy as well as intercultural psychology.

During his studies, Xaver completed several internships in the fields of geriatric psychology and psychiatry, at an interdisciplinary sleep center, and at a psychosomatic rehabilitation center. These experiences prepared him for his licensing exam to become a psychotherapist, and he is now applying these skills as a diagnostician at the University Outpatient Clinic for Individual, Couple, Family, and Group Therapy. 

Expanding on the work conducted in his master’s thesis, Xaver now explores how the degree of agreement between patients’ and therapists’ views of the therapeutic relationship influences symptom development throughout the course of psychotherapy.
