Orientation Events

The orientation events of the university are not only helpful for finding your way around the campus. They also are a good opportunity to get to know new people.

The lecture period in the fall semester starts on 7 September 2026.

Most of the orientation events take place in the week before. Even if you are not yet enrolled, you can participate in the events for first-year students.

Did you miss an orientation event?

If you’ve missed an orientation event, you can use the video and sound recordings, if applicable. During the first weeks, many contact persons also offer special consultation hours and you can also contact your Program Manager and your Departmental Student Committee.

General orientation and welcome events

  • General orientation events for first-year-students

    General welcome event for first-year-students (in German)

    Welcome of the President's Office and representatives of the constituted student body

    Introduction of Student Services office, Studierendenwerk, University Library, Institute of Sports, University IT, Studium Generale, Career Service, International Office, ENGAGE.EU, Teaching and Learning Center, Absolventum, Agentur für Arbeit.

    The event is held in German.

    Uni-Fest On 12 September, the University of Mannheim invites the public to the Uni-Fest – a format blending science, music, and partying to mark the beginning of the new semester. Under the theme “Science for everyone”, guests can expect a diverse program featuring scientific talks and presentations, hands-on activities, a party at the Schneckenhof, and culinary delights in the Ostflügel of the Schloss.program
  • From students for students: welcome events

    The AStA (Allgemeiner Studierendenausschuss) and the departmental student representatives organize campus tours and a range of social events. Take part to learn more about the university and get in touch with your fellow students. Further information can be found on the websites, in the student portal (Portal²) and under the orientation events for your program.
