Semester Fees and Tuition Fees

Semester fee

All students studying at a higher education institution in Germany are required to pay a semester fee. The semester fee for the fall semester 2023/2024 charged by the University of Mannheim is EUR 204.30. You need to pay this fee in order to be enrolled or re-registered for the next semester. The semester fee is made up of three separate contributions:

Administration fee: EUR 70
Studierendenwerk fee: EUR 120.30
Fee for the constituted student body: EUR 14

Please note: As of the fall semester 2023/2024, the semester fee will be increased! The new semester fee amounts to EUR 204.30 in total.

Semester fee for international exchange students

International exchange students are exempted from paying the administration fee due to exchange agreements between the higher education institutions. Moreover, they do not need to pay the fee for the constituted student body. Therefore, international exchange students only pay the Studierendenwerk fee. You will receive an email with account information from the International Office. Kindly note that the account information is different for international exchange students.

Tuition fees

In addition to the semester fees, the higher education institutions of Baden-Württemberg charge tuition fees for international students as well as for students pursuing a second degree in accordance with the act on fees in higher education of the Land of Baden-Württemberg (LHGebG)

Tuition Fees for International Students

International students from countries outside of the EU/EEA are required to pay a tuition fee of 1,500 euros per semester.

Tuition Fees for Second Degree Students

Students who enroll in a bachelor’s or consecutive master’s program in order to obtain a second degree are required to pay a tuition fee of 650 euros per semester, unless they obtained their first degree outside of Germany.
