Lecture series Data Science in Action 2026: interdisciplinary and international

In the Fall Semester 2026, the Mannheim Center for Data Science (MCDS), together with the European University Alliance ENGAGE.EU, is once again hosting the lecture series “Data Science in Action” in its fourth edition.

The lecture series begins with an introductory session on September 17, 2026, and concludes on December 4, 2026. All lectures are held online via Zoom on Thursdays from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m. (CET). Each session features a 45-minute lecture, followed by ample time for questions and discussion with the speaker.

The speakers come from the University of Mannheim and partner universities within the European University Alliance ENGAGE.EU. Representing a broad range of disciplines—including computer science, economics, business administration, the social sciences, and the humanities—they demonstrate how data science is driving research and innovation across fields.

The lecture series is open to students enrolled in the Mannheim Master in Data Science, doctoral students at the Graduate School of Economic and Social Sciences (GESS), and master's students from ENGAGE.EU partner universities, who may apply to participate in the course and complete the examination. All lectures are also open to the public, and guests are warmly welcome to attend.

Registration for the lecture series will open soon. After registering through our website, participants will receive the Zoom access link by email.

We look forward to welcoming participants from Mannheim and across Europe to another exciting edition of Data Science in Action in 2026.
