What our students say about pursuing a master’s degree in Mannheim

“Philosophy and Economics? How do they go together?” – I am almost always asked this question when I tell my friends what I am studying. And my reply always is: “They should definitely go hand in hand!” Already during my bachelor's degree in Business Administration it was clear to me that this program is too one-sided for me. What I want is to learn to adopt various perspectives and to critically question assumptions, practices, and theories. And this is exactly what characterizes the master’s program in Mannheim! On the one hand, the interdisciplinary master's program enabled me to deepen my specialized knowledge, and on the other hand, I was able to strengthen my analytical and critical skills thanks to the program’s focus on philosophy.

The MMM program quickly won me over with the flexibility and broad range of specializations it offers. I have the freedom to choose my courses according to my own preferences and to pursue my interests. In addition, the University of Mannheim offers a wide range of continuing education options, networking opportunities, and recreational activities that perfectly complement student life.

The master’s program in Literature, Media and Culture in the Modern Era caught my attention because of its broadness. The interdisciplinary approach of seminars in Literature and Cultural Studies and the courses in Media Studies perfectly complement each other. In addition, students have the possibility to choose their subjects from the fields of Romance Studies and German Studies as well as English and American Studies. This also applies to foreign language skills modules. The teachers strive to promote our personal development, attend to our individual needs, and are in every respect very encouraging, especially so in seminars and practical modules!
