Care Week: Support for Relatives at the University of Mannheim
More than 74 percent of those in need of care in Germany are cared for at home – often without colleagues, supervisors, or employers knowing about it. Due to the invisible responsibility, people have a lot of questions: What support is offered by the state or the health insurance company? How can you prepare for a future care situation, for example through lasting power of attorneys, advance healthcare directives (Patientenverfügungen) or a will?
Care information and a “Forum of Dialogue”
Andrea Horn and Veronique Embach, both Equal Opportunity Commissioners for non-academic staff member and trained care managers (Pflegelotsinnen), and the occupational health management invite you to participate in the Care Week to obtain comprehensive information on the topic of care. Every day from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., specialist institutions from Mannheim, a lawyer, and health insurance companies offer helpful information and support. The events are accessible both on-site in B6, 30–32, room 008, and via Zoom (Meeting-ID: 618 9375 8998, Code: 232897) so that as many people as possible are able to participate.
A special highlight of the week is the Forum of Dialogue, which takes place exclusively on-site in B6. The focus here is on the exchange with other people affected and on answering individual questions. This forum provides space for face-to-face discussions and practical solutions.
Attending the events counts towards your working hours.
New regular event
In addition to the information events, a regular Stammtisch Pflege in B6 will meet for the first time during this week. From 13 November, employees and students who are caring for relatives will have the opportunity to exchange their experiences and learn from each other in a protected setting.
You will find the schedule of events during the week in the attachment.
