Earth Hour on 26 March at 8.30 p.m.

The lights in the Schloss are turned off for one hour – a sign of commitment to our planet. On this day, the Schloss Ehrenhof Library closes at 8 p.m.

Each year, on the last Saturday in March at 8:30 p.m., the WWF Earth Hour takes place.
For one hour, thousands of cities around the world turn off the lights of many buildings and landmarks – from Big Ben in London to Berlin’s Brandenburg Gate all the way to the Great Wall of China.

The University of Mannheim is also participating in the Earth Hour and will turn off all lights of the Schloss at 8:30 pm. For this reason, the Schloss Ehrenhof Library will be closed at 8 p.m. by way of exception.

The campaign is intended to point the way for the protection of our planet and to show that each one of us has a part to play in successfully protecting the environment and the climate. The WWF's Earth Hour calls on everyone to take 60 minutes of their time for awareness, discussion and exchange about what we can do to protect the environment and the climate of our planet – not just one hour a year but every single day.
