Submission Deadline for UMAXplore Funding Program
UMAXplore provides a framework for collaboration and supports the development of promising proposals, particularly in the university’s research focus areas. A strong track record of joint preliminary work is an important prerequisite for successful applications for future Clusters of Excellence. UMAXplore therefore enables researchers to carry out the preparatory work needed. During the funding period, teams may also acquire additional third-party funding to further strengthen the foundation for a larger proposal.
- Target group: Professors at the University of Mannheim; collaborations with external partners are welcome where appropriate
- Funding: Personnel costs (e.g., funding for research staff, assistants, coordination positions) and material costs (e.g., external coaching, workshops, visiting researchers, pilot studies)
- Expected outcomes: A concrete submission plan (funding line, timeline, responsibilities) and preliminary work for the planned collaborative proposal
- Selection criteria: Scientific quality and innovation of the project; initial preliminary work by the applicants; potential of the topic with regard to a Collaborative Research Center or Excellence Cluster; where appropriate, an interdisciplinary research approach—also in collaboration with external partner institutes and universities; contribution to sharpening the University of Mannheim’s research focus areas; willingness to coordinate future cluster/
SFB proposals as spokespersons. - Procedure: Evaluation by the Research Strategy Commission; final decision by the President’s Office.
