Sustainability in Operations

We act in accordance with the motto “practice what you preach” and align our own processes and activities sustainably with it. In doing so, we are guided by research findings and incorporate the expertise of our researchers in a targeted manner.

Carbon footprint of the university

The University of Mannheim is committed to the goal of the government of the Land of Baden-Württemberg to gradually achieve net greenhouse gas neutrality in the administration of the Land by 2030. To this end, we have been determining the university's CO2 emissions annually since 2019. Using the market-based approach, the University of Mannheim emitted around 6062 tCO2e in 2023. Calculated using the location-based approach, the total result for 2023 is around 9178 tCO2e.
