New Dual Leadership for the University IT

Kerstin Bein and Alexander Pfister officially appointed co-managers of the University IT on July 1

Since July 1, the University IT (UNIT) of the University of Mannheim is officially led by two co-directors. While computer scientist Kerstin Bein will be in charge of the University IT’s commercial management, business IT specialist Alexander Pfister will be responsible for the institution’s technical direction.

With several years of experience from previous managerial positions within the University IT under their belt, Bein and Pfister are very familiar with the challenges a big university computing center has to tackle. The two new directors officially introduced themselves to the university during yesterday’s special session of the Senate and gave an insight into their goals as well as the challenges awaiting the University IT in the next couple of years.

Bein and Pfister had already taken on the provisional management of the University IT in July 2019 after Dr. Josef Kolbitsch, former director of the computing center, had left the University of Mannheim in June 2019 to take on a CIO position at Vienna University of Economics and Business.
