Mannheim Shortlisted for the PR-Bild Award Again
Two photographs taken by the University of Mannheim were nominated for the final round of the 2023 PR-Bild Award, a prestigious competition celebrating the best PR pictures from Germany, Austria and Switzerland, awarded annually since 2006.

The picture Neuer Blick auf die Stadt was nominated in the “Mobility” category. It features a cabin of the aerial tramway at the German National Garden Show (Buga) in Mannheim at sunset. The picture Frühling auf dem Campus, showing the magnolia tree in front of the Schloss, competed in the “Lifestyle” category. The photographs were taken by Jana Caran and Marlene Weiß of the Marketing Department.

First awarded in 2006, the PR-Bild Award is a renowned annual prize awarded by news aktuell, a subsidiary of Deutsche Presse Agentur (dpa), in multiple categories. All press offices and PR agencies in Germany, Austria and Switzerland are eligible to submit their work. The finalists are chosen by an expert jury; the winners are determined through an online vote.
The University of Mannheim has already won the PR-Bild Award twice: In 2012 and in 2021, photographer Matthias Hangst came out first in the categories “Sports” and “Social Media” with his creative shots of university athletes and a student athlete in the Spitzensport-Stipendium program.
