Personal Profile

Prof. Dr. Thomas Fetzer, LL.M. (Vanderbilt) earned a law degree from the University of Mannheim. In 2000, he earned his doctorate and in 2009, he completed his habilitation. In 2003, he received a LL.M. from Vanderbilt University. Since 2008, he has been a teacher at the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School. In 2010, he was a substitute professor and the holder of the chair of tax law and business and economic law at the Technische Universität Dresden. Since 2012, he has been Professor of Public Law, Regulatory Law and Tax Law at the University of Mannheim. From 2014 until 2017, he was vice dean and then dean of the School of Law and Economics. He is one of the directors of the Mannheim Centre for Competition and Innovation (MaCCI), the MannheimTaxation ScienceCampus (MannheimTaxation) and the Institute for Corporate Law (IURUM). From 2020 to October 2021, he was also a judge at the administrative court Baden-Württemberg.
